Our Mission

The mission of this organization is to provide cost-effective resources to low-income families in need of financial and business literacy to improve their chances for access to housing or home ownership.

Where Community Leadership Grows, Transformation Will Follow

Our vision is to cultivate growth and stability for entrepreneurs and their families by providing the necessary tools and support for sustainable housing and homeownership. We believe in empowering willing leaders, which paves the way for transformative successes that benefit our entire community.

Our Mission Unfolded:The Journey of Fresh Community Development Inc.

Recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit by the IRS, Fresh Community Development Inc. has dedicated itself to empowering low-income families through financial and business literacy, enhancing their opportunities for housing and homeownership. With operations spanning Florida, Michigan, and Georgia, our mission has continually adapted and expanded to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve.

2019: A Lifeline for Homeownership
In the fall of 2019, our team intervened to prevent the foreclosure of an elderly woman’s home in Florida. After a failed loan modification, we mobilized resources and expertise—from contractors to attorneys—to not only repair her home but also secure her financial stability through new loan terms and credit repair.

2020: Literature and Learning During a Pandemic
As the world grappled with a pandemic, we launched an innovative program to cultivate real estate investors, using Dr. Tori Brown’s book, Acid Reflux: How to Stomach This Economy, as a cornerstone. This initiative helped 47 individuals gain the skills to buy and rent properties, navigating the complexities of real estate with the support of our extensive network of professionals.

2021: Homeownership Depot
With the creation of The Homeownership Depot program in 2021, we focused on transforming investors into homeowners. Our collaboration with Dr. Tori Brown continued with her next book, The Color of Homeownership: Increasing Wealth in Black and Brown Communities, which has been recognized with a Kirkus Review and various awards, and is available in both English and Spanish.

2022 and Beyond: Building Wealth and Creating Impact
In June 2022, we hosted a significant online event with Blacks in Government (BIG), featuring key figures like Mayor Pro tem Lisa James and Dr. Tori Brown, to discuss wealth-building strategies. Our efforts have since created over 120 homeowners and real estate investors through our innovative online courses, the Personal Bailout Plan and Stop Renting and Start Mortgage.

Impact of Housing Instability on Entrepreneurs

  • Higher Business Failure Rates: According to a 2023 study by the Entrepreneurship and Housing Institute, entrepreneurs without stable housing are 60% more likely to face business failure, highlighting the importance of secure living conditions for maintaining successful enterprises.
  • Financial Challenges: Research from the National Association of Home Builders in 2024 indicates that 70% of entrepreneurs without access to homeownership suffer from significant financial stress, which impacts their business operations and growth.
  • Opportunity Barriers: A recent survey by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development found that 80% of entrepreneurs without homeownership face restrictions in business expansion, stifling innovation and long-term prosperity.

Our commitment stems from the understanding that access to sustainable housing and homeownership is crucial not only for personal security but also for professional success. By equipping entrepreneurs with these essential tools and support, we empower them to thrive. Our efforts to strengthen community leaders catalyze transformative successes that ripple throughout our communities, uplifting everyone involved. Our mission is rooted in the belief that by supporting individual entrepreneurs, we are investing in the broader prosperity and resilience of the entire community.
